The USAWFL manual sits at the intersection of sport and medicine, and neither audience can be shortchanged. Muscle-power grading scales, passive range-of-motion thresholds measured in degrees, and Ashworth and SARA assessment protocols demand the same precision as a clinical reference.
At the same time, the document had to read as part of a competitive sports league, not a hospital intake form. The diagonal color-blocking from the cover, in Move United's red, white, and blue, carries through every section divider, giving nine parts and three technical appendices a consistent visual rhythm that makes a lengthy rulebook feel navigable rather than exhausting.
Full-bleed action photography of wheelchair football anchors the sport-facing chapters, while the appendices shift register entirely: clean clinical photography and anatomical diagrams, each paired with a labeled criterion, so a classifier running assessments in the field can match a position directly to a threshold without hunting through paragraphs.
The result is a single document that functions as both a governance framework and a field manual, credible to a medical panel and usable by a team coach with no clinical background.
